As a collective we are all experiencing something that none of us have ever lived through before or even imagined that we ever would; the greatest mass-scale lockdown in over a hundred years.
And, surprisingly this has us hotter than ever. The sale of sex toys has increased by 72% since this time last year and specifically by 47% since lockdown. Canada takes the cake with a 135% rise in sales.
What does this say about us?
That we all are craving ways to stay intimately connected to ourselves and/or our partners. That we are creatively finding ways to find pleasure in a time of great uncertainty. That we are still human with human needs, wants and desires.
This is a very unique time in our history where we have the potential to explore and try new things. We can pause to really assess what it is we like or dislike and what we might like to try.
With this increase of sex toy sales comes also a great opportunity to release the stigma around using lube. Lube unfortunately has a bad reputation, which quite frankly is ridiculous.
The benefits of lube far outweigh the narratives we carry about using it.
